Oil Check and Sightline discuss Shell in the Arctic, Exxon's climate coverup and PDX's oil train fight
Earlier this week, Oil Check Editor Nick Abraham and Sightline Institute Policy Director Eric de Place joined KBOO Radio's Barbara Bernstein for a discussion on major environmental stories effecting the Northwest.
Portland is set to enact the strongest anti-fossil-fuels legislation anywhere in the US, and since this interview, the city council has passed the first part, with formal opposition to oil trains passing through the city. During the 45 minute discussion Nick and Eric also look at the aftermath of Shell's failed campaign in the Arctic as well as recent revelations that Exxon lied about climate change to the public and its shareholders. Since the interview, the New York State Attorney General has subpoenaed Exxon executives and is preparing a formal investigation. Federal investigators have also hinted at bringing Exxon up on racketeering charges.
